Sebastien and Nicholas
Both the young founders of this enterprise hail from the south-west of France. They started this project in 2003. One had experience in the agricultural field, the other in hostelry and design.Their initial objective was the creation of an agricultural project and a botanical garden to foster preservation and bring agricultural know-how to the local population. "La ferme de l'île", the agricultural arm of the project, is now a farm in its own right, producing some of the best seeds and products on the island (otherwise fruits and vegetables are imported from the mainland at great cost). The eco-lodge helps the farm, and brings added benefits to the local population. The amount of energy they poured into this big project, without outside help, is absolutely remarkable.
Nosy Be Lodge aims to save the socio-cultural environment of the island.
The idea behind Nosy Bé Lodge is to help travellers discover the natural and socio-cultural environment of Madagascar. The founders created nature treks to allow visitors to discover this extraordinary heritage, to help bring together men and women of distant lands and confront their preconceptions.
It is a member of a French eco-tourism organisation and part of the Eco-lodge certification program of the Malagasy Tourism Ministry.

Meet Olivia Niaina and the team at ESF, your local connection in Madagascar. We operate from our central office in the Malagasy capital of Antananarivo, and take great pride in sharing our country with you. We aim to let you experience the warm hospitality of the people and the unique and endemic flora and fauna of Madagascar. However, we also encourage people to examine the social and environmental issues facing our country, to ensure Madagascar is here for their children and grandchildren to enjoy as well.
